Boost Positive Mood by Learning to Practice Self-Compassion

Do you know how to keep your inner critic under check? If you’re struggling with negativity, then you probably don’t.

The thing is, everyone has an inner critic. Problems start when you start believing a bit too often what that annoying voice is telling you.

But that’s exactly where self-compassion comes to transform that inner critic into your new best friend.
Knowing how to control negative thinking caused by your inner critic will help you boost positive mood – because after all, the way you talk to yourself affects your whole well-being!

Read on to learn how to manipulate brain and mood and practice self-love by being your own best friend!

Practice mindfulness

Meditation is a simple task that may as well change your life because it teaches you the concept of mindfulness.

Mindfulness means living in the present moment – and that’s something your inner critic hates! If you bother to look, you’ll notice that your inner voice is either criticizing you for past failures or giving you anxieties about the future.

And that’s where being a mindful help. Actually, you don’t even have to meditate to achieve the state of mindfulness – there are a variety of meditation exercises you can start doing right now!

Try hypnosis therapy

Hypnosis therapy helps you change the core beliefs you have about yourself on a subconscious level. Practicing hypnosis will allow you to identify why your inner critic behaves the way that it does – and what you can do about it.

In other words, hypnosis works inside out by eliminating the root of the cause.

However, do remember that hypnosis doesn’t work like magic. You’ll need to commit to making this work.
Chances are, your hypnosis therapist will introduce a variety of different exercises like visualizations, practicing affirmations, and journaling. We encourage you to put in maximum effort to see long-term benefits.

Forgive yourself

Making mistakes is just another part of life. No one is perfect – so don’t always rely your full self-worth on your performance.

Instead, switch the way you look at things. Be a bit more positive towards failure. Learn something from your mistakes. Think of them as life lessons that will make you wiser.

Remember – to try and to fail is still better than not trying at all!

Talk to yourself as a friend

Observe the way you talk to yourself for a day. Feel free to write things down if you want to – it’ll be easier to notice patterns later on.

At the end of the day, take a look at what you’ve written down. Would you talk that way to a friend? If the answer is no, then don’t talk to yourself that way either.

Instead, try using the same language you use with your friends. Let’s say some of your friends have social anxiety – would you tell them they’re losers?

Probably not – you’d go on and do everything to encourage them and make them more comfortable around new people.

Are you struggling with the way you talk to yourself? Are you going to encourage yourself with some of the methods here?
